Hoch Orchard Farming Practices

Certified Earth-friendly At Hoch Orchard we strive to produce high quality apples with minimal pesticide use. The apples we bring to the Farmer's Market and apples sold under the Hoch Orchard label are allowed to ripen naturally without the use of plant growth regulators or ripening agents. Our apples are cleaned and packed on our family farm. We do not apply wax, food grade shellac, or any post-harvest pesticides to the apples.
We also practice Integrated Pest Management by monitoring pest population levels. This allows us to dramatically reduce the amount of fungicides and insecticides we use. Our goal is to produce high quality apples while minimizing chemical inputs. We want to produce the best apples possible while being environmentally friendly and economically feasible. You don't have to just take our word for it. We are certified by the Midwest Food Alliance as an environmentally friendly farm. Check out their website at www.foodalliance.org
